To care for your e-Passport is the most important decision you can ever make. The e-passport as the name implies is an electronic version of the International Passport or Travelling Document.

The passport is electronic in the sense that the details presented on the passport and some other demographic and biometric information of the carrier are stored on a microchip embedded in the passport.

The e-Passport can be physically read by visually inspecting the data page and it could also be read electronically by either swiping it on an electronic passport reader or by placing the electronic passport onto an electronic passport / document reader.

The passport holder is expected to produce the electronic passport at any Embassy or Point of Entry (PoE) into a Country, or to the Country’s Embassy or High Commission / Consulate or to the Federal Government upon demand.

Due to the delicate and security nature of the e-Passport or the electronic Passport, privileged holders of such passport booklets are advised to take extreme care of these documents, to ensure they are secured and operational at any given time.

Thus it is imperative that everyone in possession of the electronic passport MUST take the following points into serious consideration.

It is advisable that you follow these well thought of and well researched Articles on how to care for your Nigerian e-Passport.
